Hi Mama!

Just when I'm knee deep in data/writing/meetings/wrangling students, I get these wonderful pictures of a wonderful little boy, and suddenly all of the busyness of the day melts away....
Westin LOVES saying, 'Echo' in these types of spaces.

Westin's Little Brother!

These are our first really good shots of Westin's little brother: Webber Andrews Moore (WAM!*).
These were taken on Tuesday, but I had a grant deadline and I've got about 5 minutes before a meeting...so there it is, my glamorous week.

Actual conversation in the ultrasound room:
Dalen: Lisa, the baby looks just like you.
Lisa: I really hope that you are not trying to tell your very pregnant wife that she looks like an alien
Ultrasound technician: *snickers knowingly*

Other fun facts: Webber is already measuring 11oz (!), and the due date spit out by the machine said August 16th...highly optimistic. Our doctor told me not to count on it :) We'll see!!
*His initials really won't be spelled with an exclamation point, well, maybe not.....

Lucky Lemurs

Saturday's zoo class was about Lemurs. Since it was St. Patty's Day as well, they were dubbed 'Lucky Lemurs'. We learned all about lemurs and what they eat (curiously, many of the same foods that Westin will eat). And most excitingly, Westin got to pretend to be a lemur...

Putting together the tail with a glue stick. Yes, a glue stick.

Westin's wondering what was going to go where :)

Lemur assembled!

It can be really tough to sit down if one does not want to crush one's tail.

Is this the most fun ever? Quite possibly!

Westin is always out in front--really excited to get to where ever we are headed....especially if it means heading to the monkey house.

While Mama is working late....

Which seems to be happening a good bit lately. Let me just go on record saying that growing another human whilst running a lab is not for wimps! And I am tired more than I like to admit. But just like everything else, this too will pass...

In case you were wondering it is now March! We have actual tulips coming up. Grass is greening up and trees are showing life!! I walked into work this morning without a jacket! This time last year, we were buried under mounds of snow and still bundling up from the ridiculously cold wind. Happily, Dalen and Westin can go play soccer...

And ride a tricycle (when one isn't randomly jumping off to grab rocks. We have a whole collection of rocks at the house. Most rocks are accounted for most of the time. I'm sure the missing rocks will have a perfectly innocuous reappearance.)

Spring!

We are spending a lot of time outside right now. One of us really really really, and I mean really, likes his boots. One of us might even sleep in said boots if allowed.....

Also new is the Moore version of a mini-van....yes, good people, it is the 2012 Prius V Wagon*. There is plenty of room for multiple car seats, and both front and back seats move forwards and backwards, so all have plenty of leg room. Believe it or not, but inside this little hybrid is more cargo room than my Suburu Forester, AND we can get up to 600 miles on 12 gallons of gas. BOO-YA. I'm not going to say that the Prius wagon is magical, because clearly it exists, but it really kinda is magical....

*the obligatory Obama 2012 car magnet is sold separately-not issued at the time of purchase (contrary to popular belief)

Winter update

Where have we been, right?!! If you were thinking that we have been stuck under a snow drift, you would have been mistaken. We are happily enjoying an easy winter in South Dakota.

All of our highs have been above zero; I see brown grass instead of an endless sea of white; it has been sunny more than it has been gray and dreary.  So why don't we have more pictures of super fun adventures? Where are the stories about Westin saying 'yummy' at dinner (also heard at dinner 'yuck', mainly in reference to all things non-carbohydrate in nature)??

Well, I guess I don't have an easy answer, so I'll just show you guys:
This image was taken on the 4th of January. Now, New Baby should be about the size of a lime :).

That's right. Westin Moore will become a big brother around August 22ndish*

So, I'm sorry we've been out of pocket, but growing a little human is very much a full time job--and well, a full body experience. :)

*I stress ish, because these tiny humans really have their own clock. If this little bundle loves his/her Momma, she/he will come blessedly early-because it will be August. August in South Dakota, which is hot, humid and hot..and I will be BIG. I mean really really BIG.
