Sprinkler fun

Last Thursday a colleague of mine was having a 100+ year old cottonwood taken down, which also meant that her huge crop of Hostas had to be moved ASAP. The entire process, which involved a lot of dirt followed by quality sprinkler time, was incredibly satisfying for one little boy. The hostas are lovely and I can't wait for them to bloom next year!

Mama and Webber at 31 weeks. I'm not the only one wondering: are we there, yet??

Library Class!

Today's pictures are a little blurry, but don't blame the wonderful photographer (Dalen)...it's just the current state of Westin's perpetual motion. And for those who think that a library class is all about sitting and listening to books--well think again! It's also about singing songs, twirling, shaking your wiggles out, and finally, stickers.

For those waiting for vacation pictures--sorry! At 31 weeks, I'm a little tired by the end of my day. And I'm not going to make any wild promises about vacation pictures or growing belly pictures (it's impressive, y'all :)). It may be sporadic over the next couple of months, but we'll try to keep the updates a-coming......

Movie Monday

Today's theme is reading with Dada, or perhaps, reading to Dada. Some of Westin's most favorite books are written by Sandra Boynton (many of these books have been lovingly given to him by his Aunt Diane and Uncle Dayn)...I think that you can see why these books are some of his favs.

My favorite (if anyone is wondering) is 'But Not the Hippopotumus'....it makes Westin giggle almost every time :)

'Saur sounds

Westin has very clear ideas about which 'saurs make which sounds....well, only, if you are a 'ceritops...
He's also been practicing walking like a 'sauras outside:

Mother's Day-What Didn't We Do?

Hat's off to Dada and Westin for THE BEST MOTHER'S DAY of ALL TIME! It was pretty fantastic. It started off right, when I got to sleep in (yeah! Westin woke up at 6:15 just for Dada) and I got breakfast in bed. It was a beautiful day, so we headed over to Yankton and went to the duck park (which is right across the street from the hospital where Webber will be born!). Then, we went to the local aquarium.
"Mama, it's a sauraus!"

Followed by Putt-Putt.

Dalen: I think that we've lost a couple of strokes. This was much easier when Westin was in a stroller.
Me: Yeah, true. But, it's way more fun.
Dalen: True. He is pretty cute AND he's managed to hold onto to his ball for the entire day.
Westin: Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Mama Dada rock. (To clarify, he's speaking of an actual rock, not so much about how super cool Mama and Dada are.)

Then we went for ice cream.

Me: Westin, I love you so very much!
Westin: I too much, Mama.
Perfect Day! Love to all the Mama's out there!!

Shaddup!

First the big news: Yes, that's Westin willingly sitting on an actual toilet without a diaper. And yes, he actually used said toilet...Way to go Dada!!!! This does not mean that Westin is potty trained, but we've started the journey!

Now for the safety segment of this Friday's post: This week G-pops and D sent Westin a helmet (thank you). Not only for outdoor biking excursions, but for natural disasters, such as tornadoes. As many of your know, most of the injuries incurred during tornadoes involves head trauma, so when that horrible siren sounds and everyone ducks for cover, don't forget a helmet, shoes and some thick gloves....that's the end of this public service announcement....you're welcome!

Clearly, Westin will argue that helmets are not just to worn for disasters or fun on a 'cycle' or bike...

"Dada, Apples? Yummy! Mmmmmmmm....."

How 'bout this?

That's Westin's new favorite phrase...'How 'bout this?'. It also seems to be the theme of today's zoo adventure with Dalen. I'm so thankful to Dalen sending me these pictures--they make my day so very happy!! For those of you pining for pictures from my week in Tuscany and of Westin during that same week...I'll do my best to get those up soon. In the meantime, how 'bout this?:

As a Mom looking at this picture, I'm not quite sure what to think about my 2 year old walking behind a real live peacock......I know for a fact that Dalen travels with a first aid kit. So there's that.

"Dada, Rex's toes!"
