Two for Two, Veggies Beware

It was difficult to tell early on if sweet potato mash was a fave. By the end of the meal it was all smiles and a belly full of vitamin A. Webb ate all of his dinner!

Beach Party!

Today's library class theme was going to the beach. A theme fit to offer our imaginations a break from the reality here in the tundra. Lately the weather has been freezing rain and fog with a sprinkle of snow. Thursday's high will be 6. If we are lucky the wind will keep away so the chill will stay above 0 for the day. But back to this wonderful vacation we had today. Westin picked out his leis and for all you Auburn fans take notice of his color choices. Ok, so maybe they are more Florida gator colors but just like this excursion to the beach just use your imagination and all is well.
We were the first ones to class today so Westin got a little extra one on one attention from Miss Joyce the lively library lady.
Westin had fun pretending his handkerchiefs were dancing jellyfish too!
Webb is not pictured but he is in the mix as well, on dad's lap smiling as usual watching his big bro dance, sing, and listen to stories.

Pass the peas!

Holy smokes! Our little guy likes peas! He just inhaled half of the jar and is going in for a second helping as I write this. Webb's big bro made the funniest faces of disgust when he first tried peas so let the sibling differences begin. There was no spitting out of the peas or messiness for that matter. Just good old fashioned gumming of the pea. Maybe it's the organic factor? Westin had plain old Gerber's and Webb is sampling some swanky organic grade pea mash. My theory is that we started with peas first instead of a fruit which is what we did with Westin making all things sweet a winner from the get go which led to not liking foods unless from said fruit group. UPDATE: just got word of Webb eating the entire jar of peas!
I am envisioning a green blowout tomorrow. Good times.
Today is now known as "the eating of the peas" and I guess tomorrow will be "the passing of the peas".

Webb's new trick...

Our littlest boy is sitting now. He topples over after awhile no thanks to the weight of his head and the lack of excitement in the art of sitting, but hey, crawling is next and that is where the real excitement is. The exersaucer is a big hit these days too!

Can you spot the eagle?

Westin and Dada got to have some "just them" time recently. Westin had been non stop talking about bald eagles for weeks. So what do you do when your son talks about bald eagles? You go bald eagle searching even if it is 7degrees outside. Luckily we have lots of bald eagles in South Dakota. It was Westin's first bird watching experience and judging from the results it likely will not be the last. I think we found a new hobby!
Westin also watched some eagles fishing in the Missouri River and thought they should be catching sharks in the river instead of the usual catch. Eagles vs. sharks. What an imagination!
