Library Lovers' Month

February is library lovers' month in case you are not in the know.To show support I wanted everyone to see some of Westin's arts and crafts projects he has made at our public library. He attends two library classes, one on Tuesday(1-3yr.old)and the other on Wednesday(3-5yr.old). Tuesday classes are mostly singing and dancing with short stories intermingled. Wednesday classes are non parental unit chaperoned and include a longer story and an arts and craft project. Living in a small town, we find our public library to be an invaluable resource. Hope you take the time to show support, in your own way, to your community public library as well.

The pee pee dance

The parenting term 'whatever works' applies to getting an infant to sleep, as well as, toddler potty training. There are many tricks tactics used in potty training. Some involve bribes, like chocolate or goldfish (the crackers, not the pets). Dalen invented a dance (genius!). The pee pee dance is done in celebration of using Frog Potty (Westin might also get chocolate too)....since, Westin won't be doing the pee pee dance forever, I thought we should capture it for pre-prom viewing posterity. Below is a modified version (his counting is quite impressive)...basically he twirls in a circle and then jumps and shouts, 'YES!'.

I'm happy to report that the 'pee pee dance' is done multiple times a day!!! We are so very proud of our little boy!!

Valentine Chocolate

The week of Valentines Day was mostly a week about chocolate. Westin and Webb had many valentines admirers and they thank you. Westin really likes Charlie Brown, so of course, A Charlie Brown Valentine was a big hit. After all these years ole Charlie is still chasing that little red haired girl. However the only thing Westin wants to chase is chocolate. Luckily Westin is faster and brighter than a box of chocolates. We had a timely delivery of Girl Scout cookies, with thin mints being the clear winner. I also made some homemade chocolate mousse for us, which Westin helped me make, and then for his efforts was awarded the bowl to lick clean. Now that Westin is aware of valentines day, maybe next year you will have a secret admirer of your own.
As for Webb, well he was upset that his two bottom teeth are not quite able to handle the sweet taste of chocolate and settled for a relaxing bath to calm his chocolate desires.
Hope everyone got to spend a valentines moment with someone they love this past week.

Dino ebooks

I recently picked up an interactive Dino ebook at the App Store and wanted to share some of the pictures. There are lots of different ebooks where you can use your own pictures to interact with the story. It's unique, fun and goofy all in one!

Wintertime Dakota Fun

We recently visited a butterfly house and aquarium in Sioux Falls. http://sertomabutterflyhouse.org/
The boys were amazed at all of the butterflies flying around and a few dive bombed Westin which made his day. It took him a moment to realize butterflies were friendly and he wasn't really under attack. Westin thought it was really cool that butterflies also eat some of his favorite foods. There were cocoons in action as well. The aquarium was a hit too.

Times are changing....

Ask me what I did on a Friday night 10 years ago and I'm sure I would have said it involved music and a beer. As of a few years ago, pizza night out at a restraunt was a big deal. And ask me now....well, lets just say we as a family all made a visit to the salon. Not saloon but salon. Boy times have changed for my life and our family. I have to say, it's not a bad little Friday night out. We have a great, and I mean, great family hair stylist named Genny who makes Westin feel like a million bucks. She is a grandma herself to a three year old and is just a good mid-westerner in general. All Westin talked about all day was getting his hair cut and seeing Miss Genny. His purpose for a haircut use to be means to a lollipop, but now it is so he can repeatedly tell himself while looking into the mirror "oh, so handsome". Yep, that's evolving in my book. By the way, we got a pizza on the way home and we are listening to music as a family. Now that's evolving. And doesn't Lisa look beautiful!
