Opening Day!

The pool is open! And Dalen started 'lessons' today. Kicking feet/legs and flapping arms, and,of course, having fun were the main goals! Action shots are limited for obvious safety reasons. Dada reports that at first, Westin thought it was too cold and kept asking to 'sit down', but once he saw Dada having so much fun, he decided to wade back in. This summer's first pool experience was a huge success! On the phone,Westin told me how they 'were outside' and 'he was like a duck' in the pool. Good. Stuff!

Westin could only be bribed to get out of the pool with a 'cicle'...Mama has eaten all of the 'cicles', so Italian ice it was.

Wednesday at the Park

We had a doctor's appointment this morning. After the appointment and lunch, Dalen and Westin headed to the park...

Oh, the appointment? Well, Webber is doing awesome! My blood pressure is fantastic. Me--officially, I'm a cankle-o-saurus. I've gained 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks. FIVE POUNDS, PEOPLE!
Me: Holy cow, that's alot!
Nurse: It might be the scale. We've been having problems with that scale. It also might be water weight. (this is where I really want to give the nurse a hug, but it requires getting off the table and crossing the room--do you know how much work it takes these days to get on the darn exam table?)
Doctor: The summer will not be kind to you.
Me: *tears* I just bought crocs, because I can't wear my normal shoes anymore.
Doctor: Please wear them to the next appointment; I have to see this!
Me: I don't think that I have a choice.
Doctor: By the way, the weight gain is nothing to worry about. As long as you're not sitting on the couch eating a tub of ice cream.
Me: Who would do a crazy thing like that?*
Dalen: (oddly silent, mainly trying to keep his head down. bob and weave, my friend, bob and weave)
AND, we're only at 32 weeks.....

*For the record, I've only eaten 5 Edy's single fruit pops at one time, but not a tub of ice cream...and that was, like, WEEKS ago. I might have had 2 cupcakes last night--but, really, that was it. Promise.

Sprinkler fun

Last Thursday a colleague of mine was having a 100+ year old cottonwood taken down, which also meant that her huge crop of Hostas had to be moved ASAP. The entire process, which involved a lot of dirt followed by quality sprinkler time, was incredibly satisfying for one little boy. The hostas are lovely and I can't wait for them to bloom next year!

Mama and Webber at 31 weeks. I'm not the only one wondering: are we there, yet??

Library Class!

Today's pictures are a little blurry, but don't blame the wonderful photographer (Dalen)...it's just the current state of Westin's perpetual motion. And for those who think that a library class is all about sitting and listening to books--well think again! It's also about singing songs, twirling, shaking your wiggles out, and finally, stickers.

For those waiting for vacation pictures--sorry! At 31 weeks, I'm a little tired by the end of my day. And I'm not going to make any wild promises about vacation pictures or growing belly pictures (it's impressive, y'all :)). It may be sporadic over the next couple of months, but we'll try to keep the updates a-coming......

Movie Monday

Today's theme is reading with Dada, or perhaps, reading to Dada. Some of Westin's most favorite books are written by Sandra Boynton (many of these books have been lovingly given to him by his Aunt Diane and Uncle Dayn)...I think that you can see why these books are some of his favs.

My favorite (if anyone is wondering) is 'But Not the Hippopotumus'....it makes Westin giggle almost every time :)

'Saur sounds

Westin has very clear ideas about which 'saurs make which sounds....well, only, if you are a 'ceritops...
He's also been practicing walking like a 'sauras outside:

Mother's Day-What Didn't We Do?

Hat's off to Dada and Westin for THE BEST MOTHER'S DAY of ALL TIME! It was pretty fantastic. It started off right, when I got to sleep in (yeah! Westin woke up at 6:15 just for Dada) and I got breakfast in bed. It was a beautiful day, so we headed over to Yankton and went to the duck park (which is right across the street from the hospital where Webber will be born!). Then, we went to the local aquarium.
"Mama, it's a sauraus!"

Followed by Putt-Putt.

Dalen: I think that we've lost a couple of strokes. This was much easier when Westin was in a stroller.
Me: Yeah, true. But, it's way more fun.
Dalen: True. He is pretty cute AND he's managed to hold onto to his ball for the entire day.
Westin: Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Mama Dada rock. (To clarify, he's speaking of an actual rock, not so much about how super cool Mama and Dada are.)

Then we went for ice cream.

Me: Westin, I love you so very much!
Westin: I too much, Mama.
Perfect Day! Love to all the Mama's out there!!
