On the day that Webber was born......
It 'twas not August 16th, the day that we had perfectly planned a c-section. Let's take a step back to August 8th, shall we? Perfectly innocuous in utero Webb-check. I was fine. Webb was breach, but it was all good because we again, we had a plan that would make that a non-issue. Got home from work not feeling great, but it was hot and I was huge. Then things got interesting:
8:30pm, Text Dalen at the golf course: "think I might be having contractions, going to lay down so that they go away".
9:30pm, definitely should not have eaten that third piece of pizza at dinner, must be having stomach pains, not contractions.
Watch the clock hit all hours between 10:30 and 4:30. Start texting colleagues about rearranging meetings for the morning- because I wasn't feeling great, but there was NO WAY that I could possibly be in labor! Call doctor at 6:15 am, shockingly she wants me to come in-oh bad news, she's leaving for a conference. Frantically, text colleague, "I'm in labor; won't be making meetings today. Sorry" , pack go-bag (bc it wasn't even close to the 16th yet), call technician who lives in Yankton to have her meet us at the hospital, to look after Westin, realize that hey I can no longer talk through contractions, maybe just maybe I'm in labor! It is now 7:45am and we are leaving the house. We get to Avera Sacred Heart hospital in Yankton, um yeah, I was 5 cm, fully effaced, water bulging. Ive never seen folks move so fast! Webber Andrews Moore was born at 9:34am. 7lbs 13.5oz, 20 inches long. Perfectly healthy.
For those of you wondering why it has taken me so long in getting up this post, well, Webb has been perfectly healthy, but I had some complications. No bigs, nothing that a lot of rest and megatons of iron won't fix. Just be patient with me. Turns out that red blood cells are important and not just some rhetoric from 7th grade health class.
Dalen did a tremendous job getting stuff done at home and taking care of Westin. Gpops and D arrived on Monday the 13th, which has also been super helpful. As for Westin, my little boy continues to amaze me. He has gone from "I not want", in reference to his little brother to loving his little brotha webbah and wrapping his pup pup up in his beat (blanket) and calling it 'baby'.
