Westin Goes Outside

I know what you might be thinking...why in the heck is this a noteworthy blog post? Because on Sunday, it was sunny, 22 degrees and the windchill was only 11, so we took advantage of the 'good' weather. Normally, a thoroughly bundled Westin is hurried from the house to the truck for a big adventure to WalMart or HyVee. But not on a sunny day like Sunday--we went for a walk along the river.
It was a great Sunday! We all got outside (sorry, I was remiss in getting pictures of CopperDog frollicking in the park), eventually our faces defrosted (it's all part of the experience). Westin talked to the Christmas tree. His babbulary is growing by the day, and the tree gets a lot of love and songs. I wonder how the Monkey is going to handle it when we take it down....

Westin also 'helped' CopperDog eat. As if Copper needs encouragement to finish his meal!
Westin is understanding more and more of what we say. For example: "Come here Westin", really means "Scurry under the table before Dada gets you, Westin".
Yeah, our little Monkey is definitely up to something.

  1. Westin looks like such a happy boy during the unexpected warm spell. I must say it put my weather complaints into perspective. We took down the tree last weekend and Ian still goes to the area and says bye-bye to the tree. He loved it too! Also...I'm totally used to people not rooting for the Buckeyes. It's okay. I will admit to you that I almost never root for SEC teams and this year I hoped every single week that Auburn would lose. I know, I know...I've wounded you but football loyalties run deep! Who does Dalen root for?

  2. I would expect a Buckeye to pull against Auburn...we kept messing up the BCS, right?? ;) Dalen is an Auburn guy. Despite the fact that we met at West Virginia University, neither of us felt strong ties there(I never considered not being an Auburn Tiger anyway). I took him to a couple of Auburn games-we even got married on a Friday evening so that we could go to the Auburn game the next morning, and after the tailgating and game atmosphere, he was hooked. I'm a pretty lucky girl!
PS-Confession: our Christmas tree is still up. It will probably disappear during nap time this weekend.

  3. Actually, it had nothing to do with messing up the BCS. I have no problems with non-AQs or anyone else messing up the BCS. I just naturally pull against anyone in the #1 spot. John asked me who I'm rooting for on Monday and I really don't have a preference. I think (hope) it will be a good game. Good luck!

We also got married during football season and purposefully chose a date that OSU was playing out of town and at night.

I also enjoyed that Westin bothers your dog while eating as well. Ian is much better but oh how he can annoy the dog.
